POSCO-India will grow with the local communities and has been seeking ways of mutual development with communities and society through continuous communication with the district of Jagatsingpur and Orissa, where its proposed Steelworks will be located in India.
The company is working steadily to spread accurate information on the project. A PR and R&R office at Kujang, Jagatsinghpur was set up in the vicinity of the proposed plant area. This office has been initiated to provide a platform for sharing the concerns of local residents especially the to-be displaced and affected people.
The company plans to find out exactly what issues are causing concerns, and will continuously work toward proliferation of the facts. In particular, it plans to address the needs of the families, directly and indirectly affected by the steel plant construction through the new R&R Policy of the Orissa State Government and through our socio-economic survey.
The company will design an adequate and fair R&R Package and to adopt a suitable CSR programme thereby extending direct and indirect benefits to the local people so that, we would be truly welcomed by the local population. At the moment the company is making continuous efforts to understand the position and needs of people and will dialogue with them and solve this problem amicably as an Indian company.
As the benefit of the industrialization through POSCO steel plants has been transferred to the communities directly and indirectly through provision of education, health care and employment, the same will be replicated in Orissa, India.
