POSCO-India launches Villager's Friendly Programme Company installs High Mast Lights at Gada Kujanga & Nuagaon
Kujanga, August 28, 2006: POSCO-India, Indian subsidiary of the third largest steel manufacturer in the world has launched ‘Villagers’ Friendly Programme’ for the benefit of project-affected families in the proposed steel plant area.
The ‘Villagers Friendly Programme’ is a part of POSCO-India’s commitment towards the overall progress of the displaced families and it intends to address their immediate needs by organizing regular meetings with the community representatives in order to invite opinions and suggestions for a contented co-existence.
Under the program, POSCO-India plans to focus on three key areas of infrastructure up gradation, health care and education in the first phase. As a debut measure and as a token of deep respect for public convenience, two units of 12-meter long semi-high mast lights with 400 wattage power have been installed at the Jagannath Temple in Gada Kujanga, and at Ramachandi square of Nuagaon. These highmast lights will illumine the crowded temple road along with the three connecting roads in Nuagaon and will ensure better safety for the villagers.
Commenting on the occasion the Chairman and the Managing Director of POSCO-India said, “POSCO-Indiawill grow together with the community. We are constantly making efforts to listen to the immediate needs of the people and working towards addressing them for a better way of life”.
