Set to repeat the successful cleft-lip surgery & palate correction initiative
Free cleft-lip surgery & palate correction will be done from 17th-20th July
23 patients from the local area including 18 from Ersama block will benefit
A team of 8 Doctors from South Korea along with Doctors from the SCB Medical College to conduct the surgery at SCB MC Hospital.

Sincere to its mission to make the life of people better than before, POSCO-India launched its 2nd free Cleft Lip Surgery and Palate Correction Camp, for 23 identified patients of the proposed plant site & nearby areas of Jagatsinghpur District today. The four day long camp will continue at SCB Medical College & Hospital till 20th July. A team of 8 Doctors from South Korea along with expert doctors and medical staff of SCB Medical College & Hospital will perform the surgery. All medical assistance & post-surgery medical care will be provided by POSCO-India free of cost to the patients.
Last year the company had also organized a similar camp wherein 27 patients from Jagatsinghpur District were successfully operated. POSCO-India had also organized a free Polio Corrective Surgery camp at Jagatsinghpur operating around 100 polio patients in January 2007. Apart from this, the company has launched Mobile Medical Units in the villages at the proposed Plant Site providing free health check-up facilities and medicines, thereby taking long strides for the good health of the local inhabitants.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Soung-Sik Cho, Chairman & Managing Director, POSCO-India, said, “POSCO-India has always emphasized upon the collective development of the society through continuous social welfare activities. After successfully organizing Cleft-Lip Surgery & Palate Correction camp last year, we have decided to repeat the same success story to better the health conditions of people in our project area". He further added, “We promised to village people to make their life better. We hope this effort improves the lives of people needing specialized medical assistance and enables them for a better future.”
