Synopsis: Striving to earn people’s goodwill, POSCO-India announced a series of scholarships and grants for meritorious students on 15th June from leading Universities of Orissa and other parts of India. It was proclaimed as a step towards promotion of academic collaboration between India and South Korea.
The POSCO TJ Park Foundation will award the scholarships, research grants and fellowships to students from India. Sixty students will get scholarships, while fellowships will be given to five Indian students in Korea and two scholars shall receive research grants.
With its headquarters in Bhubaneswar and the proposed mega steel plant in the State, POSCO-India has earmarked 50% of these scholarship grants to students from the state.
Mr. Soung-Sik Cho, CMD, POSCO-India said “At POSCO we believe in encouraging excellence and leadership through education. POSCO-India will provide scholarships and grants to exceptional individuals from leading Indian Universities with the aim to nurture leaders and help build global knowledge”..
