Synopsis: On 15th June POSCO-India announced a slew of scholarships and grants for University students from Orissa and other parts of India to encourage research, aid higher education and promote academic collaboration between India and South Korea.
As many as 60 students would be given an annual grant of $500 each at one go. Of the total Orissa would account for 50% with 15 students from Utkal University, 7 from KIIT Deemed University and 8 from Biju Patnaik University of Technology. As many as 20 students from Delhi University and 10 from Jawaharlal Nehru University would be eligible for the scholarship. The number of scholarships is likely to be doubled from 2007.
Announcing the programmes, Mr. Soung-Sik Cho, CMD, POSCO-India said, “It is a step to encourage excellence and leadership through education.”
