Synopsis: POSCO proposes to take up massive plantation for protection of environment and to compensate for the acquired forest land. In the first phase, the Company plans to plant about 20 lakh saplings. The Company has decided to undertake compensatory afforestation programme on 1,221 acres of land. The State Forest Department has reportedly selected 45 hectares in Ersama, 127 hectares in Balikuda and 850 hectares in Jajpur & Cuttack districts.
