‘Atrocity’ by Anti-Posco group, villagers compelled to vacate home
Synopsis: The District Administration’s alleged failure to restore peace in trouble torn Govindpur village and anti-POSCO group’s activities have compelled members of more than 30 to 40 families to leave their own village. They have now taken shelter at POSCO transit colony.
While earlier 52 families of Patana village were living in the transit colony, the number has now gone up after arrival of the new families. Though space crunch is a problem, the earlier-settled families, considering the plight of the new arrivals, have accommodated them.
The pro-POSCO members alleged that even after the palm-chopping incident, Police could not muster courage to enter the village let alone recover the severed limb which has resulted in the deteriorating law and order situation of the village.
