POSCO takes up responsibility of educating the children of displaced families
Synopsis: POSCO is continuing with its efforts to provide education, healthcare and welfare to the 52 families of Patana village under Dhinkia Panchayat who had left the village being unable to bear the atrocities of the anti-POSCO activists and have taken shelter in Badagabpur. As a part of its efforts, POSCO has contacted different schools to provide primary and higher education to the children of these families. As a result, 35 children will be enrolled at Manapur Primary School, while 15 children will be enrolled at Chatua High School.
Mr. Arun Mahapatra, an official of POSCO’s Kujanga Office has been in contact with the headmasters of different schools, the DI and the Circle Inspector in this regard. The concerned authorities of Education Department have asked the Dhinkia School authority to give TC to these children immediately, so that they can take admission elsewhere. POSCO is taking care of the education of the children. It may be noted that 2 children from the displaced families have completed the Board Education with good results. POSCO has also made provisions to provide higher education to them.
