Mr. Choon-Kuhn Kwon is the Chairman cum Managing Director of POSCO-India Private Limited, a subsidiary of POSCO, the world’s fourth largest steel producer. Born in South Korea on 17 March, 1954 , Mr. Kwon pursued his university studies in Chongnam National University , Korea , where he obtained his degree in Civil Engineering. After graduation he served for 2 years in Korean Army which helped him to cultivate leadership skills under tough conditions. Mr. Kwon joined POSCO wayback in 1978 starting his career in construction of #4 Hot Rolling Mill, Pohang Steel Works. Subsequently he moved to Kwangyang and got involved in the construction of the state-of-art steel plant from the very inception. He went through varied assignments including construction of port, building and power facilities until 1999. After the completion of Kwangyang Steel Works he moved to Maintenance and Technology area as General Manager in 2003. With his expertise in engineering and construction, he was appointed in POSCO-India project as Director and Chief Technical Officer in the year 2005 The master plan of POSCO-India steel plant was prepared under his guidance. Mr. Kwon has his home in Kwangyang and Bhubaneswar. He and his wife, Mrs. Mi-Soon Kim, an erudite scholar and teacher in English Literature and Arts, have one daughter and a son studying in Universities abroad. An avid sportsman, Mr. Kwon follows and plays soccer and golf with passion. He takes interest in contemporary art, literature and music. Moreover, he cultivates a passionate craving for knowledge. To augment his understanding on management theories, Mr. Kwon recently completed his MBA from POSTECH. As leader of the largest single location integrated steel project in India , Mr. Kwon has the enviable job of fructifying the mission of building abetter tomorrow with steel for Orissa and also the fulfilling the vision of Global POSCO way of Creating another Success Story, Beyond Here Beyond Now
