I am delighted to be in Orissa at the helm of POSCO-India project, which I am sure, would make all of us proud one day in future.
As you might be aware, through the POSCO-India project we have a real opportunity to recreate at Paradip the success saga of POSCO in building and operating two of the world’s largest and most efficient integrated steel plants at Pohang and Gwangyang cities, and to contribute to the development of the local community, Orissa, India, and eventually all of human society.
POSCO has been supportive to the Korean Economy from the initial developmental stage of Korea way back in 1960s, by providing good quality of steel for rapid industrialisation. Steel in often called the "rice of industry" for its phenomenal value creating capacity in the downstream and POSCO has been leading the development of steel industry as well as related industry for last four decades.
I have been vigorously participating in the successful construction and operation of steel plants for more than 30 years. With this "experience of success", I will try my best to make POSCO-India a very competitive steel plant and through this project as a harbinger of change, usher in economic growth and development all around the steel plant.
As a member of Global POSCO family, POSCO-India will follow the management philosophy of POSCO and will set up a win-win model between local community and corporate stakeholders. I commit myself with all humility and sincerity to recreate another success story at Paradip along with my colleagues in POSCO-India and by invoking reciprocal trust and partnership of all stakeholders especially the local community.
Together, we can and we shall, “build a better tomorrow with steel”.
