Synopsis: Admitting the fact that denial of entry by a section of the villagers at the proposed project site had delayed survey work, Mr. Soung-Sik Cho, CMD, POSCO-India said he was still hopeful of meeting the construction schedule.
Mr. Cho said “We are planning to commence construction work on Govt. land, setting aside the acquisition of private land for the moment.” He emphasized on opening of communication channels with the villagers, initiating several social welfare measures in the villages etc to beak the ice.
Mr. Cho ruled out the possibility of shifting the site due to resistance movements and said every site will have a displacement related problem. On the mining lease front, the CMD felt that by end of September the prospecting license will be made available to them.
